Brief CV
Dr. Gholamhosein Tavakoli Mehrjardi is an associate Professor in the Civil Engineering Department at Kharazmi University (currently ranked 600-800 in Engineering according to Times Higher Education). He received his BSc from Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman in the field of Civil Engineering in 2004, and MSc and PhD degrees in Geotechnical Engineering from K. N. Toosi University of Technology. As a MSc thesis, he carried out a combination of neural network and genetic algorithm to simulate and optimise the response of buried pipeline. Moreover, during his PhD, Dr. Tavakoli Mehrjardi studied the performance of a novel system, including tyre shreds and geocell reinforcement, to protect buried pipeline against heavy cyclic loadings by physical and numerical modelling at University of Nottingham (NTEC). He performed many physical modelling as well as numerical modelling to investigate in the fields of geosynthetics, application of recycled materials, buried pipes, and transportation geotechnics, bringing about more than 50 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers as well as three published books. Dr. Tavakoli is currently the vice president of Iraninan Chapter of International Geosynthetics Society, and also, the member of editorial board for journal of Geotextiles and Geomembranes. He prefers wearing out rather than rusting out and therefore, there is no room for complacency.
