Mohammad Hossein Keshavarz finished his undergraduate studies at Kharazmi University (formerly Teacher Training University in Tehran) in English Language and Literature in 1974. He then recieved a top-graduate scholarship to continue his graduate studies in USA. He received his Master's degree in Applied Linguistics and TEFL from Ohio University in 1977. He started teaching ELT courses at Teacher Training College in Zahedan and subsequtently at Kharazmi University in Tehran after graduating from Ohio University. He then pursued his PhD studies in Applied Linguistics in UK and received his PhD degree from the University of Wales in 1989. During his term of employment at Kharazmi University, in addition to teaching various graduate and undergraduate courses, Professor Keshavarz served as Head of Department of Foreign Languages (1993-2004), Director of Research Institute of Foreign Languages (1992-2007), Member of Research Council (1993-2007), Director of Scholarship Program and International Relations (1980-1985), Member of the Central Board of Academic Auditors, Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (2005-2007), National Research Coordinator of Language Education Study (An international project conducted under the auspices of IEA), 1994-1996. He also founded the first Iranian Journal of Applied Linguistics in English in 1996. He has published 20 books in different areas of Applied Linguistics and ELT and over 60 articles and book chapters. He has also translated a few issues of the UNESCO Courier into Persian and has supervised over one hundred theses. Professor Keshavarz held a visiting scholar position at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, USA in the academic year 2003-2204, and one at University of British Columbia, Canada in 1997-98. Since 2012 he has been living and teaching in Northern Cyprus and is currently Head of ELT Department at Girne American University.
